Manchester United continue to cut costs by turning staff Christmas bonuses into gift vouchers instead
The Telegraph has revealed that as a result of Manchester United co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s drastic pay cuts, staff’s £100 Christmas bonus. Will be replaced with a £40 gift voucher to spend at Marks & Spencer.
In the past, Manchester United’s co-owners have laid off 250 staff at Old Trafford.
There have also been a number of other changes since taking control of the football operations. With a £1.3bn investment to buy a 27.7 per cent stake in the club.
The measures have brought a mixed response from staff, according to สมัคร ufabet. While some are said to have been left frustrated by the cuts. Others are pleasantly surprised to be receiving anything at all after the other cuts made on Ratcliffe’s watch.
In addition to the trimming of the bonus, United’s Christmas party – pared back in 2023 – is now reported to have been cut altogether. Last year’s edition was held in a suite at Old Trafford. Moving from its traditional home in the lead-up to Ratcliffe’s takeover.
Previously, the Glazers had been responsible for giving their staff a £100 bonus each year before Christmas, but this year it has been changed to a £40 voucher instead. And this year’s Christmas party has also been cancelled after the job cuts.
Sources at Man Utd don’t expect Sir Jim’s cost-cutting drive to end anytime soon. And the cuts are likely to continue.
Manchester United have reported a pre-tax loss of £312.9m for the past three seasons. As the club continues to struggle to meet the Premier League’s Profit and Sustainability Rules (PSR).
